Sliding scale: $10 - $25 (Pre-purchase required).

Back by popular demand, Sonoma Valley Next 100 is excited to present another screening of a short film, Small is Beautiful – The Quest to Save the Valley of the Moon, at the Sebastiani Theatre on August 25 at 2PM.  The first screening in July was sold out.  Be sure to get your tickets ASAP so you are not shut out!

The film, by local award-winning filmmaker Carolyn M. Scott, highlights the problems with over-development and our community’s efforts to save the publicly-owned resources of the Sonoma Developmental Center.

The documentary raises critical questions about who truly benefits from profit-driven policies that do not serve our communities.  The photography is stunning, with aerial views you would never see of the valley and the SDC.  Graphics illustrate the potential development and dangers of over-development.  The narrative discusses the policies in California which are coming into place to allow large developments in small communities all over the State.

Sonoma Valley Next 100 is fighting hard on behalf of the community using expert advice from legal and policy wonks and consultants to find loopholes and cracks in the laws governing the transition of the SDC and what it might look like in the future.  They are pushing back on behalf of the community and will be able to tell you some breaking news during the panel discussion.

David Bolling, Editor of the Sonoma Valley Sun will again moderate the panel discussion following the film.  Panelists include Norman Gilroy (Architect, SVNext 100) and Bean Anderson (Glen Ellen Historical Society), and Larry Barnett  (Chair, Sonoma City Planning Commission).

If you saw the film and think you know everything from the last panel discussion, think again!  There is so much more to tell about SVN100 work and strategies.  Come once, come twice!  You can never get enough inspiration and knowledge.
